How I Nailed a MONY Group Interview With Real-Time Support: A Behind-the-Scenes Success Story

The candidate repeated that clearly: “I’d begin with users who engaged with both journeys to train the base model. Then, I’d extend with recommendation-style predictions and even use retrieval-augmented generation to boost inference on less-structured users.”

The interviewer nodded, and pressed further: “How would you deal with imbalanced data and cold starts?”

We suggested: “Apply sample weighting in the loss function to prioritize overlapping users. For cold users, use behavioral inference or prompt-tuned generation.”

They responded: “I’d weight overlapping users more heavily during training to keep the model grounded in reality. Post-deployment, we’d track user response to personalized offers as feedback to further refine the model.”

Every line delivered with confidence had been prepared in real time—while the interview was happening.

During the Q&A, the candidate inquired about the team’s structure and focus. The interviewer indicated more experimental AI projects were in the pipeline—less about just deployment, more about exploration.

Before closing, the candidate added a thoughtful point: “Even users who didn’t use the energy comparison journey should be part of the evaluation set. Including them improves generalization and reduces overfitting to known buyers.”
